A wonderful woman, who was closer to my mother's age than mine but still had profound influence on my life, lost a decade-long battle with cancer tonight. My heart aches for her family. And yet, I know this is not the end for them. It's not the end for anyone.
When we do things the right way, as this family did, nothing that happens in this life can prevent our families from being bound together for eternity. Marry in the temple, and we are sealed forever, so long as we live up to our part of the covenant. God cannot lie. He isn't going to back out. Only we can break that bond. That is why we can have hope through even the deepest adversity. God already overcame everything we will face and has prepared the way for us to similarly overcome. All we have to do is follow His plan. No matter what goes wrong in time, it will be made right in eternity. Our obedience secures our place in His plan, and when we make mistakes (which we will), all we have to do is repent and He welcomes us back open arms. All because God loved us enough to give His Son, and His Son loved us enough to give His life, take on our sins, and shed His blood.

Beautifully written. Karen is an amazing soul and taught each of us so much. I think she is the most pure example of how to endure to the end with courage and love.
